Vehicles
Our fleet is divided into car groups. Reservations can only be confirmed according to these car groups. You will easily find these groups and car examples during your rental car booking.
Third part liability insurance
The renter and any authorized driver are insured under automobile insurance policy which is available for inspection at the headquarters of Avis Estonia. Said policy covers insurance for bodily injury and property damage as legally required in the country where the vehicle is registered. This insurance automatically included in all rates.
Basic rate / Rental price
The basic rate is calculated upon the time the vehicle is being used and - in exceptional cases - also upon the number of kilometers driven. One rental day is charged for each full or commenced 24-hour-period, starting at the time pick-up time. The costs for oil consumption, maintenance, repairs and third party liability insurance are included in the basic rate. The basic rate varies depending on the car group chosen and the situation on the market. Our rental stations are gladly at your disposal for inquiries on our different rates.
Fuel
All our vehicles will be provided with full tank of petrol then you will collect your Avis car. At return refueling costs will be charged to the renter if returned tank is less than provided. We will offer you our refueling service. The current conditions are available at all our rental locations and apply either petrol or diesel.
Methods of payment
You can pay for your rental car using an Avis method of payment or any recognised international credit card. Cash payment is only accepted in exceptional cases and needs to be discussed directly with the rental location concerned. In order to rent cars from category L, N, M, J, two credit cards are required.
Minimum age
The minimum age for car rentals in Estonia is 21 years.
Minimum 21 - groups A,B
Minimum 23 - groups C,D,E,I
Minimum 25 - groups G,J,L,M,N,O
Renters under the age of 25 are subject to a young driver fee - EEK 150.- per day with a maximum of EEK 1500.- per rental.
Driving licence
Have you held a driving license for at least one year? Then you already fulfil one important rental condition. A category B driving licence is required for car as well as utility van rentals. Please do not forget your driving licence when picking up a rental car. Due to legal reasons, we are not allowed to rent cars without checking this document. International Driving licence is required for licences in non-latin alphabet and for countries that have not joined the Convention on road traffic at Vienna on 8 November 1968.
Additional driver
The vehicle may only be driven by the renter himself. In the event of damage to the vehicle while driven by a third person, the renter is entirely liable for all costs arising there from. Additional drivers are only allowed to drive the vehicle if a corresponding fee (EEK 190. - per rental + tax) has been agreed upon check-out. The renter is obliged to inform Avis at any time, upon demand, of the name and address of the driver.
Special equipment for cars
We gladly put special equipment such as child, baby and booster seats, navigation units at your disposal. Please do notify us in advance if you need any special equipment in order to guarantee availability. The current conditions are available at all our rental locations.
It is legal requirement in Estonia that all children who are transported in cars have to be secured with a suitable safety. Equipment requirements depends from age of child and are as indicated below:
Baby, Child, Booster safety seats available for EEK 500.- per rental/per seat + tax. Please advice us about age of child, while booking your Avis car.
The navigation service from Avis provides you with the best portable in-car navigation. Just choose your destination address and let Avis GPS do the rest only for EEK 145.80 per day +tax - maximum of 10 days charge.
Delivery / Collection
We deliver or collect your rental car to or from any place you choose as long as it is regularly attainable by car.

within cities Tallinn, Pärnu, Tartu and Jõhvi delivery/collection to/from hotels and addresses 09AM-06PM 150 EEK + tax.
Other addresses 09AM-06PM 265 EEK + 7 EEK per KM (tax is not included).
Outside office hours:
Other addresses 06PM-00AM 531 EEK + 7 EEK per KM (tax is not included).
Surcharges
Please be aware, that there are charges, which are not available during your online booking. They depend from provided services and / or administrative work. Then you will collect your car we will inform you once again and add them to your final bill if any arise. Please find conditions of our existing extras:
Registration fee - 125 EEK + tax per rental
Airport and harbour fee - 200 EEK + tax per rental
Late hour service 06PM - 10.59PM - 300 EEK + tax
Late hour service 11PM - 7.30AM - 500 EEK + tax
In case of no show a penalty fee - 500 EEK + tax
Leaving the vehicle in Tallinn APT general car park - 300 EEK + tax
Missing road map - 250 EEK + tax
Missing APT parking card - 250 EEK + tax
One way rental
Where a booking is one way, a one-way fee will be included in the quote. These are automatically applicable one-way rates if you rent car from one location and drop in a different one:

To Riga (Latvia) - 2000 EEK + tax

No one way rentals allowed to Belarus, Ukraine and Russia.

Breakdown and defects of vehicle

Avis, while taking all reasonable precautions and using its best efforts to prevent mechanical fault and defects of the vehicle, shall not be liable for any such faults or defects nor for any consequential loss or direct or indirect damages arising there from. In case of faults and defects of the vehicle in Estonia, the renter is obliged to inform the nearest Avis station. The renter is not entitled, without the express consent of Avis, to repair the vehicle on his own or to have it repaired.
Renter's liability in case of damage, accident and theft
The renter is liable for all charges, up to the amount of liability costs or value of the vehicle, incurred by Avis except for fire, elemental or animal related damages (with the exception of damages caused by animals belonging to the renter and/or passengers). Charges are considered among others vehicle damage, loss of car’s value by theft, reduction in value, transportation, expert assessment, claims handling fee, loss of use, third party deductible and insurance bonus loss. The renter is liable until Avis personnel gives written confirmation that the vehicle has been returned free from damage. If the vehicle is returned before or after opening hours, or not at the agreed destination, the renter is liable until Avis determines that the vehicle is damage free and advises the renter to that effect.
Reduced liability (CDW/TP)
Reduced liability, CDW and TP are valid for further definitions concerning the responsibility.
If the renter signs the reduced liability agreement for CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) and/or for TP (Theft Protection) or if this is already included in the rate, the renter’s liability is reduced to a fixed sum for CDW and/or TP.
An additional insurance (Super CDW/TP) to exclude the renters liabilty can be purchased additionally at time of pick up.
Unlimited Liability
The renter undertakes to protect the interest of Avis and of the insurance company in case of an accident during the term of this rental by
- completely accurately and truthfully filling in the accident report handed over to him by Avis
- obtaining names and addresses of parties involved and of witnesses
- not admitting liability or guilt
- not abandoning said vehicle without adequate provisions for safeguarding and securing same
- advising by telephone the nearest Avis station at the expense of Avis
- notifying the police immediately if another party’s guilt has to be ascertained, or if people are injured
General Limitations of Use
The renter takes note of and agrees that the use of the car is not allowed in the following circumstances and he acknowledges to be liable for all damages in case of disregard of these limitations:

- to transport illegal or dangerous goods
- to carry passengers for a consideration express or implied
- to use for learning purposes
- to propel, tow, move or push any vehicle or trailer
- to participate in motor sport events, car races, rallying, competitions, test and training runs on racing courses, in orientation and motocross competitions, record-breaking attempts, reliability competitions, endurance and consumption competitions
- in no case must the vehicle be driven by any person under the influence of alcohol or drugs
